Tennant Creek…

Tennant Creek

Thursday 24th July – Fairly long drive today from Camooweal to Tennant Creek, 470km.  We hadn’t planned to stay in Tennant Creek but with the fuel filter warning light on we had little choice, didn’t fancy limping all the way up to Darwin…

We are also crossing the border in to Northern Territory today, pretty excited about that!  I have been in Australia over 14 years and hadn’t been to the Northern Territory so it was all new and exciting (except that our first stop was Tennant Creek..)

There are a couple of caravan parks in Tennant Creek, none of them sounded flash on Wiki Camps, we chose the first one in… hmmm!  Friendly enough biker bloke, covered in tats and beard to his belly greets us and checks us in.  He says he’s a bit tired as the “locals” were really noisy last night and kept him awake most of the night… really!  This will be a super place to stay then won’t it, can’t wait!

At least we got a drive through site, we’re only staying here as long as it takes to get the car looked at, not setting anything up or getting anything out!

We had called ahead from Camooweal and booked the car in for 8am tomorrow morning, so hopefully we’ll be out of here by 9am!

It was a fairly noisy night, we could hear the drunk locals shouting at each other until about 3am… this place makes Mount Isa look rather appealing!

Friday 25th July – Drew was off early with the car, I packed up the van with Maddy because as soon as that car is fixed we are out of here!  Thankfully it was an easy job, the mechanic changed the filter, re set the electronics and we were all good to go, on the road before 10am, heading to Daly Waters!
